World Champ Facing Reality Drawing, November 9, 1964

Pencil drawing of a boxing match. The ring is situated to the left of the paper. Round 9 is written to the right of the referee who, it appears, is crying or sweating. Dated November 19, 1964, Ali is punching Sonny Liston off of the ring. There are three judges situated one on each side of the ring. LeRoy and Linda are identified in the crowd, to the mid-right of the drawing. Above the ring is written, "Stop, He is finished [sic] Champ." Originally the (second) fight between Sonny Liston and Muhammad Ali was scheduled for November 16, 1964. Due to a health complication, the fight was rescheduled for and held on May 25, 1965. Ali knocked Liston out in the first round. Ali dated this drawing on November 19, 1964, just three days after the rescheduled fight.
