Humanitarian of the Century Award

The award was presented to Muhammad Ali at the South Bend Rotary Disability Awareness luncheon held at the Century Center in downtown South Bend. Award reads, "We proudly proclaim and honor Muhammad Ali as the Humanitarian of the Century. Our civilization is centuries old. In each century, one person has emerged to provide an overall impact beyond all others. Husband. Father. Friend. Muhammad Ali is the most extraordinary person of the 20th century. Leader. Communicator. His impact upon politics, religion, and athletics, separately and together, has been cursed and applauded. He has paid dearly for his convictions and beliefs. His like has made a difference. Diplomat. Citizen. Minister. Ali is recognized in every corner of the planet as a respected man of principle. The once famous mouth is virtually silent now due to Parkinson's Syndrome. Yet his message of peace is louder than ever. As a young man, he proclaimed himself the greatest. Today the world agrees and stands in awe of his myriad contributions. 3 times Heavyweight Champion of the world. Presented this day in behalf of every person with a disability in St. Joseph County, Indiana, and with praise for every life he has touched and changed throughout the world in any manner. Disabilities Awareness Celebration. South Bend, Florida. November 8, 1995"
