Zora Folley Fight at Madison Square Garden Painting, March 26, 1967

It seems as though Muhammad Ali attempted to show the size of the arenaby painting walkways descending into the background. He also depicted himself with his feet shuffling, creating imagery for the popular move/phrase, the 'Ali Shuffle'. On the back of the watercolor, LeRoy Neiman, to whom Ali gifted this artwork, wrote, "Watercolor drawing by Muhammad Ali in room 1514, Mid-Town Motor Inn, New York, March 17, 1967." Muhammad dated the painting on the front March 26, 1967. His fight against Zora Folley actually took place on March 22, 1967.
