Presidential Medal of Freedom Award, 2005
In 2005, Muhammad Ali was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, which is often considered the highest civilian award in the United States. Ali was awarded this medal for having "made an especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, world peace, cultural or other significant public or private endeavors."
