Joe Frazier vs. Muhammad Ali I Commemorative Ashtray, 1971
A ceramic ashtray with information on the then-upcoming fight between reigning Heavyweight Champion Joe Frazier and former champion Muhammad Ali. The ashtray includes photographs of both fighters, the location of the fight, as well as a few facts about each fighter.
Donated by George Kalinsky in 2015.
According to George Kalinsky, who was present at the fight, ashtrays like this one were gifted to press that were covering the fight on March 8, 1971. This version has a black base and there is another version with a clear base. Each version of the ashtray was sold at the fight.
