Ali/Frazier III Cutty Sark Souvenir Program, September 30, 1975
A souvenir program for the closed-circuit broadcast viewers of the third and final fight between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, otherwise known as the Thrilla in Manila. The program was sponsored by Cutty Sark, a Scottish whiskey brand. The program includes opinions from both fighters on a variety of topics, including their favorite foods, colors, movies, and more.
Donated by George Kalinsky in 2015.
While this program was to promote the Thrilla in Manila, there is a message on the last page, which is signed by both Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier. The message states that while the two boxers may not get along, they agree that Rubin "Hurricane" Carter should be released from prison. Carter was a professional boxer who was wrongfully convicted of committing murder in 1966 and was not freed until 1985. Sixteen days after his final win against Joe Frazier, Ali marched in support for Carter's freedom with 1600 protestors.
