The Challenger
Muhammad Ali's background was far different from his opponents. He was young, he had never been defeated as a professional, and his adolescence was spent with his friends and family, and in a boxing ring. His career was managed by a group of businessmen from his hometown and he had never been linked to nefarious organizations like the mob. Similar to Liston, however, Ali competed and won in the Chicago and Intercity Golden Gloves tournaments, as well as the United States National Championships.
On the day of the fight he'd been waiting for, Muhammad Ali weighed in at 210 and 1/2 pounds, his fists had a circumference of 13 inches, and his reach extended to 79 inches.
