Stadio dei Marmi Postcard

Color postcard of the Stadium of Marbles ("Stadio dei Marmi") in the Foro Italico in Rome, Italy. It was named for the marble statues which surround the marble steps. There are 59 statues of athletes performing various sports; each was gifted by Italy's provinces. It was designed in the 1920s, and was first used publicly in 1932. The stadium hosted field hockey events for the 1960 Summer Olympic Games.
