One Last Hurrah
In January of 2012, Angelo Dundee, at the age of 90 years young, made one final trip to the Muhammad Ali Center to celebrate Ali's 70th birthday. During an interview with The Courier-Journal while in Louisville, Dundee spoke fondly of his memories with Muhammad Ali, and how they spoke often over the phone. They would usually speak in the mornings when Ali's speech was at its best, and The Greatest would always say he wanted to come back to the gym and train. Angelo would say, "Me too, but we can't do that anymore, kid. But what I can do is make sure you know that I love you."
Angelo Dundee passed away on February 1, 2012, and is often remembered by one of his favorite quotes:
"It doesn't cost nothin' to be nice."
