Muhammad and LeRoy: A Friendship in Art

Drawing by Muhammad Ali of a boat between two mountains. The drawing was done with marker and crayon. At the top left, Muhammad wrote, "To LeRoy Neiman from Muhammad Ali 1-27-2005." Muhammad also drew a heart between LeRoy and Neiman. 

LeRoy passed away on June 20, 2012,  and Muhammad followed a few years later on June 3, 2016. Both men left a legacy behind them. LeRoy in both the art and sporting worlds, and Muhammad will continue to be known the world over for generations. Perhaps one of their greatest legacies, though, was friendship. 

Donated to the Muhammad Ali Center in 2017 by the LeRoy Neiman and Janet Byrne Neiman Foundation.
